- <p> Broadcasting from a Des Moines radio station in the 1930s,
- miles away from any action, "Dutch" Reagan took Western Union
- reports of ball games and added his own verbal embellishments
- for a crackling play-by-play. Ronald Reagan, 78, will be back
- at the sports mike next week, but from on the scene. The former
- First Fan will provide commentary for one inning during NBC's
- telecast of the July 11 All-Star game. After his labors in the
- broadcast booth, he has requested compensation: an ice-cold
- drink and a hot dog.
